PM's 2nd Pendulum Returns essay got some linkage recently. The first article though is where the magic is... Organizing a website by departmental structure is handy for assigning responsibility and managing changes within a organization but not a very good idea for the user. Rarely does the range of user goals map clearly to corporate departments and equally rarely do all of the departments contribute equally to the brand or the bottom line.
