How people organize bookmarks
The process of creating and managing bookmarks has been on my mind of
late as there's an upcoming redesign of the Firebird
add bookmark UI.
This interesting google query, "
how people organize bookmarks" , showed up in my surfmind referrers today.
Some interesting bits, a graph approach that angles toward my spiral viz from a
CMU student in '99 and a
keyword tagging based approach (similar to
Epiphany?).
My picks of the literature on this are on the
prior art page.

The
Glimmer project at Grinnell CS has been working in web history monitoring space since 2000. They've worked on
link summarization,
history visualization and the typical proxy system.

Welcome to
visitors from OReillyNet.
Bob DuCharme
collaborated with me a few months back on the xml history flavor that
sextant currently produces. I'm overdue in surfacing that
material but it's coming soon. I've got a functioning sextant install
in Firebird and am polishing it slowly. The short term goals are
buttons for window history -- tabbed browsing makes the tab based back
button insufficient, as well as a non-trimmed back button.
More lofty goals include a sort of alt-tab pane switcher for tabbed windows.
In the mean time, if you find the bookmark browser useful, please
file bugs on issues you experience or features you'd like to have.

Bookmarks in RDF
Curious as to the RDF underlying your bookmarks?
chrome://mozwho/content/rdf.html
will show you the serialization. Looking ahead to export
functions, this is a first step. Not sure yet how to hook this up
to an XSL transform....
